Moss Utilities is Born: Garrett Moss brings the family name back into the industry by founding Moss Utilities. Parker Thane was the first employee hired. The company starts growing and establishes a strong presence in the area.
Unprecedented Growth:
Moss Utilities experienced explosive growth and resilience through the pandemic, which brought the birth of “The Moss Way.” A big part of this story is the struggle that the Moss family went through over the years, which is why this growth was such a notable milestone. Parker Thane rises to lead the field operations.
Major Wins and Continued Growth:
Major wins start piling up as we begin partnering with top general contractors and developers. We moved into our new headquarters on Ables Lane and built a new Gym to emphasize employee wellness. We complete our scope of work on notable projects like Universal Park and Firefly Park.

When Amazon builds a state-of-the-art, robot-automated fulfillment center, the unseen underground infrastructure must be absolutely flawless. For “Project Maverick” at 1811 Sparks Drive in Cleburne, Texas, Moss Utilities was chosen to deliver the robust, high-capacity utility network required to keep this massive operation running.
Working alongside the project developers, our crews tackled the comprehensive water, storm drain, and sanitary sewer improvements required to bring this advanced industrial warehouse to life. We navigated complex utility alignments and established a foundation built to handle the heavy demands of a 24/7 automated logistics hub.
Our Scope of Work
Our specialized utility crews executed a precise and highly regulated scope of work, managing everything from trenching and embedment to the final testing of municipal tie-ins. The core infrastructure we installed for Project Maverick included:
- Extensive Water Main Installation: We safely trenched and laid exactly 486 linear feet of 8-inch water main.
- Secondary Water Lines: Our team installed an additional 367 linear feet of 6-inch water main.
- System Control: We installed five 8-inch gate valves to ensure optimal system isolation and control capabilities.
- Fire Safety Infrastructure: We outfitted the site with four new fire hydrant assemblies to meet strict commercial fire codes.
- Sanitary Sewer Systems: We executed the installation of 724 linear feet of heavy-wall 8-inch sanitary sewer main.
- Sewer Access Points: We set four sanitary sewer manholes, ensuring all invert elevations perfectly matched the city’s slope requirements.

The Challenge: Texas Terrain
You do not build in West Fort Worth without a fight.
The ground here is notoriously tough, layered with dense rock that breaks lesser equipment and ruins schedules. We brought the right tools for the job.
Using multiple heavy excavators and specialized rock-trenching equipment, our crews are grinding through the terrain. We are setting deep sewer lines and massive storm drains with precision, regardless of the geology. There is no magic trick for this kind of excavation—it just takes big machines, experienced operators, and a refusal to back down.
