Moss University is a 12 month internship program developed by Garrett Moss, President of Moss Utilities. Garrett’s vision for “Moss U” is to take someone with little to no construction experience and immerse them in the culture and values of the company, as well as enable them to experience a well-rounded training concerning the proven process at Moss Utilities.

Garrett developed this program to give people the opportunity to come to work for a company, such as Moss Utilities, who invests in their employees and strives to have a wonderful culture and relational capacity, not only with their clients, but with their employees as well.

Those accepted to the program will learn all three aspects of the proven process that has led to the success of Moss Utilities and how each department in the company plays a crucial role in the completion of every project.

MossU consists of three (3), 4-month duration intervals in each of the following departments: Preconstruction, Field Operations, and Project Management. This program has been designed for people interested in construction and what our company does, but have no idea where to start. Candidates should have little to no experience in the field of underground utilities.

We traditionally will start the process in February and look for candidates that meet the above listed criteria. We have a strategic interview process with our executive team and members of each department.

Trainees will be trained in the preconstruction process where estimates are created and vetted for future jobs. They will then learn about the role of the Project Management department, how those individuals  manage the logistics, materials, and budget for each project once it has been handed off to them by the estimation team. After training and insight from the Project Management team, the interns will observe the day to day operations of the field team and learn the management processes used by our field superintendents to see the project come to fruition.

During the program, each trainee will have several monthly meetings to review their progress with the Vice President of the division that they are currently training with, as well as a meeting with the President, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer and the Human Resources Department. It is our goal to make each trainee feel supported and to ensure that they have the resources available to them to help them to achieve success.

Our intention is to hire 2-4 individuals each year and the interview process will consist of one phone interview and at least one in person interview.

This is an exciting and intentional program that has been created within our company, and we are excited to extend these opportunities to those individuals who want to learn and grow in this industry.
