Mike is the chief estimator here at Moss, and he joined our team back in May 2017. He dropped out of high school in 1990 and went to work in a variety of construction trades. He got the opportunity to learn civil estimating in 1996, and started as a survey and field engineer assistant. From there, Mike experienced rapid career growth. He became an estimator within six months, and he also got his first company truck and his first salaried paycheck.
Before he joined Moss, Mike worked in estimating and project management, with experience in excavation, underground utilities, paving and concrete, oil and pipeline facilities, and wastewater treatment plants. He says his favorite part of working at Moss is the positive team atmosphere, and he likes how the company is “young, aggressive, and open-minded.”
Mike and his wife have been married since 1996, and they have two adult sons, along with three dogs — a Shih Tzu, a Shih Tzu mix, and a Bichon mix. When he’s not at work, Mike has a wide range of interests, including travel, hiking, kayaking, geology, landscape irrigation, and water conservation.
